(Sullivan et al, 2019) - Psychological Sleep Interventions for Migraine and Tension-Type Headache: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

  • A review of articles to see the effectiveness of psychological sleep interventions for treatment of migraine and tension-type headaches
  • Psychological sleep intervention (one study combined with drug therapy) significantly reduced headache frequency and intensity

(Hardian et al., 2020) - Improvement of Sleep Quality by Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) Stimulation Among Medical Students

  • Undergraduate students were split into control group and treatment group (ASMR)
  • 20 min ASMR video given to watch at night for 14 consecutive days
  • Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire results were reduced in treatment group and control group had no change pre and post intervention

(Oh et al., 2018) - Insufficient Sleep in Tension-Type Headache: A Population Study

  • Population-based survey from Korean Headache Sleep Study, where insufficient sleep was defined as when sleep need and average sleep duration was at least 1 hr
  • Among the participants, prevalence of insufficent sleep was significantly high among those with tension-type headache
  • Also linked to exacerbation of TTH
