Potential triggers of Tension-Type Headache
Research suggests that the trigger for tension-type headaches are multifactorial and different for every individual.
To find out what may be triggering our headaches, we need to track and remember what we were doing before the onset of the headache. It's time to put on your detective hat!
If you are unsure, you can use a trigger identification diary (see below) to see a potential pattern in when the headaches arise.
This will also be very helpful for any other health professional who can provide further guidance.
There are quite a few potential triggers which can include:
- Lack of or poor sleep quality
- Psychological disturbances such as anxiety, depression or stress
- Physical or mental fatigue
- Neck pain
- Bad posture
- Inappropriate exercises
